Mercure Caen Cote De Nacre

In terms of voting it 10/10 - this is in comparison to all the other hotels we stayed in on our road trip, that were all around the 100-125 euros per night. This by far was the best one and was more like a true hotel than any other. Lovely reception, bar & restaurant, typical modern room, nice bathroom - ALL SPOTLESS. Staff were friendly and welcoming and we enjoyed good service at the bar and a lovely meal. If you are looking at staying somewhere close to town but also the port, it’s perfect. We even managed to go and pay our respects to WW2 soldiers at Omaha Beach, which was very moving. We were so tired and had an early start so didn’t go into Caen, but there are trams every 10 mins, so easy to do. By far, this was the best hotel we stayed, in the category of budget hotels. Parking on site too.

Breakfast and bedroom

We chose Caen for an overnight stop after ferry crossing to Cherbourg. Hotel Mercure Cote De Nacre was excellent. All staff were polite and efficient with special mention to Receptionist who spoke perfect English. Room was very comfortable and we chose a Privilege room which was well worth the extra price. Secure car park which was important to us.

Excellent stopover hotel for cross channel users. Very good 4 star comfort, secure parking in quiet area, quality breakfast which included a thoughtful home made chocolate cake, restaurant opened at 6.30am, super convenient for us with an 8 hour drive ahead. Super pleasant and helpful overnight receptionist.
